The Cats

I use pictures of my cats as the thumbnails for my blog posts because I find them just as compelling as any other thumbnail could be.

Mooney

When we came across Mooney's profile while searching for cats to adopt, his photo made him look a little derpy. When we went to go look at the cats we were interested in we ended up going to the wrong shelter. We walk in and who's waiting for us looking at us in the face, Mooney. We were smitten with Mooney and decided to pick up a second cat, Smokey, while we were there. Mooney is a gentle love bug. He loves laying on you and relaxing near you. But dont let that fool you, if he wants your attention, he isnt above pushing something off a table.

Peaches

Peaches approached us when we were on a walk. She bounced out of some bushes and came over to us looking for help. She followed us home and walked through the front door. She went straight for water and food and didn't leave. We were able to see she was very dirty and had something wrong with her eye. We got her help at an emergency vet and even got her back to her owner the same day. The next day her owner asked us is we would like to keep her and shes been with us since. Peaches is independent and always looking for an open window to get a good look and smell of the outside world. She commonly gets the afternoon zoomies. She is strong and fierce and the best fighter of the bunch.

Smokey

Smokey was adopted along with Mooney. Smokey likes to play by having the toy come to him. Hes incredibly smart and very motivated in all situations to be as comfortable as possible while doing as little as possible. He is our largest cat and he can sometimes be a bit of a bully and throw his weight around when wrestling with Mooney.

Sunny

We first encountered sunny on our porch steps after an evening walk. We thought he was a neighborhood cat that wanted some pets. We gave him some attention, food, and water and then went about our day. A week later he appeared on our porch again, but he was looking rough. Sunny struggled with respiratory issues and a genetic heart condition. He passed in our arms after suffering a stroke. Sunny always wanted to be in the sunlight, held, and loved. He was gentle and loving. We are very happy to have been able to provide a loving home for him.

Tinkerbell

Some months after Sunny passed we came upon Tinkerbell. While out an about doing errands on a rainy day we noticed a pet adoption event. We first saw her as she was curled up in a pink puff looking down at all the people at the event. She had a sneer due to previous facial damage. Others thought she was mean, but we saw behind the scowl and adopted her. Late 2025 we had to make the difficult decision to put Tinkerbell down because of the rapid growth of a mass beneath her face that began causing side effects. Even with invasive surgery she was unlikely to live or have any quality of life. Tinkerbell was sweet, curious, and gentle. She had a voice louder than her stature, but always carried herself as the queen she was.
